Trigonella Foenum-Graecum Seed Extract description

_Trigonella foenum-graecum_ seed extract comes from a plant more commonly known as fenugreek or, in India, methi. It has been used since ancient times as a food additive and is a common ingredient in foods originating from India. In cosmetics, fenugreek seed extract is sometimes used as a hydrating ingredient due to its concentration of fatty acids, including oleic acid. Research demonstrates that as a plant extract, fenugreek has antioxidant properties. Studies also indicate it has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits. There is even some evidence that fenugreek seed extract can help prevent collagen depletion. _Trigonella foenum-graecum_ seed extract is not recommended for everyone, though, because of the potential for allergic reactions if you have a peanut or chickpea allergy. Because fenugreek is in the same family as peanuts and other legumes, there is a risk of what is known as cross-reactivity, meaning those allergic to peanuts and legumes are also allergic to fenugreek. If you fall into this category, it is important to steer clear of products containing _Trigonella foenum-graecum_ seed extract.
