Rubus Ursinus Fruit Extract description

_Rubus ursinus_ fruit extract is a plant-derived ingredient that offers skin antioxidant benefits. Also referred to as the California blackberry and Pacific blackberry, this berry-bearing shrub is native to North America. _Rubus ursinus_ fruit extract is a lesser used berry extract for cosmetics, however, this doesn’t mean this fruit-based ingredient doesn’t offer skin-beneficial properties. _Rubus ursinus_ fruit extract is rich in antioxidant compounds known as polyphenols, particularly ellagic acid and anthocyanins. When applied to skin, polyphenols step in to help deflect pro-aging and damaging external factors, like UV rays and pollution. When left unchecked, these environmental threats can go on to create uneven tone, skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles and more. _Rubus ursinus_ has many subspecies and cultivars and is related to boysenberry and marionberry. Use levels of _Rubus ursinus_ in cosmetics range from 0.5–5%, depending on whether it’s used in concentrated or water-based form. Outside of cosmetics, this skin-beneficial ingredient is used in the health and supplement spheres.
