Oenothera Biennis Flower Extract description

_Oenothera biennis_ flower extract is the extract from flowers of a plant more commonly known as evening primrose. While the oil from this plant is renowned for its anti-inflammatory and barrier-boosting properties, the flower extract also appears to have some of these same benefits. Though not as extensively researched as evening primrose oil, studies have found that _Oenothera biennis_ flower extract has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties for skin, making it a good choice for both anti-aging and soothing skin care products. The recommended use level of this flower extract ranges from 5–10%. Although that seems like a lot, keep in mind the extract is standardized to a 20% concentration in a water- and glycerin-blend. As such, this flower extract typically wouldn’t be found among the first few ingredients in a leave-on product.
